The Fortress of the Earth - Temple



After hard fights against all the monsters, the parties reach the fortress on the 8th day of their travels through the mountains.

The entrance to the fortress is a natural cave, the only way leading up to the cave is a path which is dug out.

While the Charith and the Chrisham Party warily enter the first level of the cave, anytime ready for battle, the Rainlin and Ralgül Party climb up the decayed stairs to examine the higher levels.

"Letīs separate and quickly control all rooms!",
Ktulu, the sorcerer submits, setting off with his fighters to the first room, whilst the Chrisham party assaults the next room.

1st floor



Entering the first room, the heroes can see tapestries on three walls of the room. They depict battles with strange creatures and giants. There is an Ettin holding two clubs in each tapestry. When the fighters approach the walls, the Ettins come out of the tapestries and attack the party.

 Not too good, but the enemies flee.

 

Hearing the battle noise, the Chrisham party tries to keep the neighbour rooms free of monsters, crossing all the sceletons in the next one (room 2) they see five chests laying around which seem to be empty. When they are prising up the exit (room 3), 4 tremendous Minotaurs can be seen holding a disgustful looking meal. The 5 feet tall, chain mail armor wearing creatures disrupt their meal with a wrathful roar and attack the heroes.

After the Charith Party could succesfully beat the Ettins, they hurry on ahead. They reach a room (room 4) filled with broken tables and chairs as well as coaches and other furniture. It is very difficult to move through the room because there is so much debris. There are two Carrion Crawlers searching for food in the debris, which are killed with some short strokes.

Digging into all that debris, the heroes can find a hidden door leading to another room (room 6). There is a terrible smell coming from this bathroom. There are large piles of trash, crap and other assorted items. Inside there are many rats, that run from the area of the light, which suddenly lunge at the heroes.

Whilst the Charith heroes get attacked by the rats, the Chrisham party finds a room dominated by broken furniture and strange statues. There are 5 statues in all, 2 Human, 1 Dwarf, 1 Elf, and 1 Orc.

Each one is broken and missing either their head or arms. Examining the staues, Scorpio finds another hidden door, which leads to a small room. 4 Owlbears attack the party as soon as they enter the room.

Meanwhile the Charith heroes could get rid of the lousy rats and leave the room following a corridor leading to another room, which has broken furniture all over. It causes a lot of noise, by which four Lurkers above in this room get alarmed and attack the party.

Hearing a disgusting smacking and slurping after having defeated the Lurkers, the heroes rush to the next room (room 9). There are many Ogres sitting around a large banquet table eating a meal. They are all 5 feet tall and each is wearing pieces of dwarven chain mail armor and large shields. Half of the Ogres are carrying clubs and the others carry spears. The leader Ogre blows a horn on the wall and waits in the back commanding his men.

Seeing these horrible monsters, the heroes call for help to the Chrisham party. Trying to succour, the heroes pass a room (room 10), facing some more Ogres, carrying spears, wearing dwarven chain mails and large shields that attack as soon as the heroes enter the room. One of the Ogres runs into the neighbour room (room 11) and get 4 Trolls to help in the fight.

The Chrisham party wins Little Goliath Evolution as additional engine by the Pendant of Free Will and also several match points because of owning the Pendant of Courage.

The Charith and Chrisham Party are rewarded by the dwarves for cleaning the first level from the evil monsters. All characters are promoted by two ranks.


After all the heroes could clean the first level of all creatures and monsters with concentrated forces and are going to look after the other parties in the higher levels now.

On their way out a secret door is opened, at the stairs an alarm spell goes off and an erie voice warns the party of continuing:

"Only those who want to meet their destiny would dare to enter the inner sanctum of Theleb."
